Job Description:

Falls of Neuse Management is looking for a General Ledger Accountant to join our team in Raleigh, North Carolina.Our G/L Accountant position is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger as well as preparing basic financial reports for all assigned G/L accounts .
G/L Accountant Duties:

  • Ensure that financial records are kept in accordance with GAAP and all appropriate records are retained
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts
  • Performs account analysis of assigned accounts to ensure all entries are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and theories
  • Accurately and timely prepares all month end entries for assigned accounts
  • Prepares monthly account reconciliations accurately and timely for all assigned accounts
  • Reviews activity in key accounts on a weekly basis and communicates any questions to the field to ensure activity is accurately reported each month-end
  • Monitors applicable G/L accounts to ensure they agree to the sub-ledger. Researches and resolves any differences.
  • Analyzes and reviews assigned accounts to ensure financial statements are completed in a timely fashion, free of misstatement
  • Understands the nature of all assigned accounts and how entries are booked to all accounts
  • Assists the field managers with questions pertaining to G/L Accounts assigned
  • Ensures the accurate and timely recording and coding of all payroll expense assigned
  • Accurately and timely prepares the monthly account reconcilliations for assigned payroll accounts
  • Manages various projects as identified or assigned by the Corporate Controller, Assistant Controllers or Accounting Managers
  • Cross train on Accounting Manager daily dutiesG/L Accountant Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with 3-5 years of experience within an accounting department within a private or publicly held corporation
    • Maybe required to work overtime to ensure established deadlines are met
    • Expected hours per week are 40-50
    • Strong attention to detail, high degree of accuracy and ability to solve complex difficult problems
    • Excellent organizational and planning skills along with good judgement, motivation and communication skills
    • Basic understanding of the business operations and correlation between business operations and accounting function
    • Strong computer skills and proficient in use of Windows based computer software and the use of excel
    • Strong knowledge of financial and accounting software applications
    • Knowledge of the principles and practices of financial record keeping
    • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting theories, principles, methods, practices, and terminology
    • Must be able to work under pressure, exhibit proper management of time, while meeting established deadlinesWhat we offer:
