Job Description:
Furnace Operator Responsibilities and Experience: Furnace
operators need to know what programs or process to implement. They
MUST understand how to process a given material and implement the
appropriate process on that given material. They are required to
interpret specifications and materials from their customers
Prints/Purchase Orders and translate that into the appropriate
process to be used to achieve customers’ requirements. Example:
Customer XYZ P.O. number: 123 Item 1: Material: M2 Heat treat to
HRC 62-64 Item 2: Material: 8620 Case harden .020”-.030” deep to
HRC 58-60 Item 3: Material: 4140 Heat treat to 160-180 KSI per AMS
2759/1 Item 4: Material: 17-7 Heat treat to Condition TH1050
