Job Summary:Reporting to the Senior Director, Enterprise & Business Communications, the Director, Enterprise & Business Communications develops and oversees internal communications strategies to support Labcorp's mission, strategic priorities, values, culture and brand.The Director will support development and oversight of overarching strategy and tone for internal enterprise- and segment-wide communications. The Director will also serve as a business partner to segment and functional leaders as needed, working with the Senior Director and leaders across the company globally to execute programs that advance top priority company initiatives.S/he will lead a team and serve as a player-coach in the creation and execution enterprise-wide, segment-wide, audience-specific (wired, non-wired, on the go, etc.), and function-specific communications programs in support of major strategic and change initiatives, and engagement and reputation programs. These programs are expected to drive a shared understanding of Labcorp's direction and leaders' and employees' roles in company success. The Director will help ensure consistency of messaging across the organization globally.The ideal candidate will have a business-focused mindset and thrives in a dynamic, results-oriented, and fast-paced environment.Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of global communications Managers and Specialists in developing thoughtful communications programs that advance company goals. Provide leadership, mentorship, feedback and development in support of their professional goals and company objectives.
  • Support development and drive execution of overarching internal enterprise and business communication strategy that drives employee engagement, executes against the company's strategic pillars and helps achieve stated business objectives.
  • Support broad impact initiatives by crafting communications strategies and materials in partnership with business leaders and/or HR, Legal, Finance and other enterprise functions to ensure priorities and messaging are aligned and articulated in a manner consistent with the overall company strategy and culture.
  • Supports agenda and provides oversight of company-wide communications.
  • Responsible for executing strategy to strengthen internal communication networks and messages to align performance and behaviors around strategies that drive team member and company success globally. Execute plans and create content for events, videos, podcasts or other creative tools in support of communications strategies.
  • Gather team member sentiment analysis to help executive committee and other senior leaders understand team members' perspective on company direction, strategic priorities, culture, etc.
  • Measure effectiveness of enterprise and business segment communications through a variety of vehicles, including communication audits, surveys and informal networks. Collaborate across the Communications team and across the enterprise to develop relevant metrics and reporting.
  • Manage outside vendors and professional services as needed to support communication objectives.
  • Provide input as requested to department leadership team on talent management, budgeting, development and strategic planning for department goals in support of company objectives.
  • Interact with key stakeholders (meetings, one-on-ones, organizational "listening") to be proactive in counseling and addressing communication issues, needs and opportunities.
  • Deliver exceptional written and oral communications for internal audiences to support communications plans.
  • Continuously looking for ways to improve communication processes and identifying critical communication opportunities.
  • Help identify and/or anticipate business and communication issues and help mitigate them.
  • Contribute communications strategies and tactics related to M&A, joint ventures and other investment opportunities.
  • Partner across Communications team in support of broad, integrated communications efforts.
  • Design and implement change communications strategies and tactics in support of major change initiatives.Minimum Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relation or related field preferred
    • A minimum of 12+ years of experience in communications, including employee and culture communications in a global organization
    • A mix of healthcare, corporate and agency experience preferred
    • Proven ability to effectively lead, manage, motivate and develop a team.
    • Exceptional and persuasive written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
    • An exceptional eye for detail and a proven track record of creating informative and engaging internal communications
    • Emotionally intelligent and proven ability to influence and gain trust quickly.
    • Proven ability to lead, influence and navigate and build relationships across the organization, including leaders and Communication team members.
    • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution
    • Strong business acumen and ability to show up as a business leader & communications expert. Understanding of healthcare sector preferred.
    • Executive presence and confidence to challenge the status quo with senior leaders.
    • Ability to facilitate and distill multiple perspectives from senior executives into communications that will resonate with broad audiences
    • Excellent planning skills, with a proven ability to manage, prioritize and allocate time
    • Proven ability to lead high-performance talent.
    • Ability to make decisions in a rapidly changing environment and perform in high pressure situations with multiple stakeholders, including senior executives under tight timeframes
    • Proven success working in a matrix environment, influencing without direct authority, and leading large projects and change initiatives. Ability to set priorities and be flexible in changing environments; goal orientation with a strong bias toward action and tangible results.
    • Ability to translate complex business issues into readily understandable, creative and strategic communications for a variety of audiences
    • Self-reliant, proactive, assertive, optimistic, flexible, collaborative.
    • Ability to handle sensitive or proprietary company information in a confidential manner.
    • Analytical - able to gather, analyze, package and make thoughtful recommendations based on insights from data.
    • Ability to manage outside resources to ensure success of projects
    • Ability to stand in for Sr. Director, Business & Enterprise Communication as needed
    • Strong background working in virtual team environment; global experience a plus
