Duke Primary Care Duke Primary Care Duke Primary Care is a broad network of community-based clinics that offer family medicine, internal medicine, pediatric, and urgent care services. With 400 providers in nearly 50 locations, Duke Primary Care is the largest primary care network in the greater Triangle. Our network saw more than 750,000 patient encounters in fiscal year 2021. Our Duke Primary Care clinics provide personalized care for adults and children, from sick visits to preventive care, health screenings to immunizations, and annual exams to chronic disease management. Select primary care clinics also provide behavioral health, diabetes education, pharmacy, and other population health services. Duke Primary Care clinics are accredited and designated a Primary Care Medical Home by The Joint Commission. Our Duke Urgent Care centers offer evaluation and treatment for minor illnesses and injuries 12 hours a day, seven days a week when a patient--------s primary care provider is not available. Services also include certain physical exams and vaccinations. A pediatric specialist is available at select locations. Patients can walk in to one of our nine urgent care centers located throughout the greater Triangle or can schedule a virtual visit to receive care from the comfort of home. PATIENT SERVICE ASSOCIATE - DUKE PRIMARY CARE -OccSummary Coordinate and participate in a variety of dutie s associated withdaily clinic preparation process, patient identificatio n,patient checkin/out, charge posting, cash management and patient appoi ntmentscheduling. Position also involves customer service, messagedistri bution,ancillary scheduling and preparation and referralsmanagement.
Work Performed Prepare for clinic visits by reviewingne xtday patients andcompleting next day preparation activities. Enter pre- visit orders andprepare new patient charts. Pick up X-rays, office chart s, medicalrecords, reports, petty cash and collections bag. File history sheets,ancillary reports and all other required patient record documenta tion.Return medical records. Attach HIPPA/Medicare documents to theencou nter forms.Check-in patient upon arrival in the practice. Identify corr ectpatientinformation in Maestro Care. Verify patient demographic data.E ditMaestro Care as needed. Accurately identify the appropriate accountfo rpatient visit. Present and educate patients on required forms andobtain signature as required by policy and procedure. Completes allMaestro Care check-in files and manage all appropriate alerts. Collectand post co-pa yments and balances on accounts due. Imprint all patientspecific chartdo cuments and requisition/transmittal documents. Copy,file and distributei nsurance cards as indicated by procedure.Coordinate all labs/procedures as requested. Maintain private physicianoffice charts.Prepare encounter forms. Investigate and account for missing encounterforms. Audit encount er forms for completeness and accuracy beforebatching. Batches encounter forms or charge posting in MaestroCare.Schedule tests and procedures.Co mplete and distributeancillary service requisitions.Explain billingtopat ientsaccording to PRMO credit and collection policies. Determinetheamoun tof cash to be collected based on insurance plan.Check-outpatients.Make return appointments by scheduling patients into thecorrect appointment t ype, entering the primary care physician orreferring physicianandschedul ing tests and procedures.Answer telephone, take and delivermessagesto ph ysicians, nurses andothers.Report obtainedmedical information frompatien ts and referringphysicians accurately, completely and timely. Disseminat e messagesaccording to practice communication standards
Know ledge, Skills and Abilities Strong verbal and written communicat ion. Basic PC and data entryskills. Knowledge of medical terminology and telephone etiquette.Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize wor k, provide oral andwritten instructions, interact tactfully withcustomer s and establishand maintain effective relationships with others.Must be able to applyspecific departmental policies rules andregulationsrelating toverifying patient information, collecting payments and maintainingrec ords and forms.
