An opportunity is available for a registered nurse specializing in oncology to provide skilled patient care in a hospital setting. This position involves night shifts, delivering comprehensive nursing services to patients undergoing cancer treatments and requiring specialized oncology expertise. Schedule: - Night shifts, 3 shifts per week - 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM 7:30 AM) - Weekend work required every other weekend Qualifications and Desired Experience: - Current RN license in North Carolina or Compact license eligible - Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience - Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Oncology nursing certification preferred (ONS/ONCC) and APHON certification highly valued - Experience with chemotherapy administration and oncology patient care - Flu vaccination mandatory, no exemptions accepted - Open to first-time oncology nurses committed to learning and delivering excellent care Primary Responsibilities: - Administer chemotherapy and manage oncology-specific treatments safely and effectively - Monitor patient condition and respond to emergencies with sound clinical judgment - Educate patients and families on treatment plans and symptom management - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes - Ensure compliance with hospital policies and healthcare standards, including infection control Additional Information: This is a contract position offering flexibility and exposure to advanced oncology care practices. Orientation sessions are conducted bi-weekly to integrate new staff smoothly. The role suits candidates within about a 75-mile radius willing to work weekends as required.
