Primary Care Pickett Road is a patient-centered primary care clinic
providing comprehensive healthcare services to individuals and
families in the Durham, NC, area. Serving a diverse patient
population, including adults, seniors, and adolescents, the clinic
offers a wide range of services, including preventive care, chronic
disease management, acute illness treatment, women's health, and
on-site diagnostic testing. As part of the Duke Health network, the
clinic is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based
medical care with a focus on patient-centered treatment, health
education, and seamless coordination with Duke Health specialists
when advanced care is needed. Location: 3004 Tower Boulevard,
Durham, NC 27707 Hours: 8am – 5pm Monday – Friday What you will do:
- Administer medications and IV fluids as prescribed by the doctor
and maintain records. - Provide direct care to patients under the
supervision of a nurse or doctor. - Follow the doctor's orders and
nursing care plan for patient care. - Report patient responses to
care to a nurse for evaluation and adjustments to the care plan. -
Assist other healthcare staff in delivering patient care. - Help
doctors and nurses with diagnostic procedures. - Assess nursing
care, patient responses, and prioritize nursing tasks. - Help
develop and implement policies to ensure patient comfort and safety
and participate in creating new policies. - Contribute to
maintaining the care environment, including equipment and supplies.
- Identify and assist in improving clinical and operational
performance. - Assist in managing supplies and equipment, reporting
any malfunctions to the charge nurse. - Participate in training
programs and help train new staff. - Perform other related duties
as needed. What you will need: Education - Work requires graduation
from an approved or accredited Practical Nurse program. Experience
- No experience required. Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
- Current State of North Carolina LPN licensure or Nurse Licensure
Compact (NLC) required. Knowledge, Skills, Education, and
Experience - Ability to find resources independently and work well
with others - Clear communication with patients, families,
visitors, healthcare team, and leadership; able to teach patients
and families based on the care plan - Ability to process and
prioritize information, treatment, and follow-up using sensory and
cognitive functions - Competent in BLS and other required life
support certifications - Proficient in fine motor skills -
Accurately record activities and document interventions - Ability
to use computers and learn new software - Navigate the healthcare
system to provide patient care - Able to stand and walk for long
periods - Stay focused and organized - Knowledge of sterile
techniques and special procedures relevant to the role -
Familiarity with administering routine and special treatments to
patients - Understanding of sanitation, hygiene, and health safety
in a hospital setting - Knowledge of infection control procedures
and safety precautions - Ability to follow oral and written
instructions - Knowledge of and compliance with JCAHO and other
