Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Roanoke, Virginia, 24014! Job
Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU
Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12
Experience: Minimum 1 Year License: Active RN License Required
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Epic Charting
Experience Description: Position is for a Registered Nurse in a
Neuro PCU. Shift hours are 3x12 from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM. Charting
system experience required is Epic. Weekend requirement may include
every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling
block. Requests for time off must be included with the application.
Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks. Must work one holiday
during the 13-week contract. First-time travelers are accepted.
Local candidates are subject to a radius rule criteria. Pending
licenses accepted only if the candidate holds a single-state
license from a non-compact state. Required clinical skills include:
Cardiac monitoring and emergency response. IV therapy, phlebotomy,
and blood product administration. Central and peripheral line care.
Medication administration including cardiac drips (no titration).
Respiratory support, including oxygen administration and
non-invasive airway management. Involvement in rapid response
situations. Knowledge of isolation precautions. Patient population
consists of adults with neurological conditions. Care includes
neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, and medical overflow.
The ratio of patients to nurses is 1:4 to 1:5. Travelers may be
required to float to units within their clinical skills. This
facility is a large acute care teaching hospital and provides
advanced specialty care. It has a dedicated children’s hospital and
offers comprehensive stroke care. The environment emphasizes

be comfortable with the specified patient ratios and clinical
