Director, Medical Lead to provide strategic medical leadership
across the Oncology Franchise (ONCO) . This role serves as the
senior medical strategist responsible for ensuring scientific
rigor, consistency, and alignment of medical strategy across brands
and indications within the portfolio. Reporting to the VP Medical
Strategy Executive , the Medical Lead will ensure high-quality
medical strategy development, evidence planning, and
cross-functional execution in support of global markets. Key
Responsibilities Portfolio Medical Strategy Leadership • Lead and
integrate medical strategy across Oncology Franchise (ONCO),
ensuring alignment with enterprise medical objectives. • Translate
scientific data, unmet need, and external insights into clear,
differentiated medical strategies at the portfolio and brand level.
• Ensure consistency of medical positioning, evidence priorities,
and scientific narratives across indications and regions.
Leadership of Medical Directors • Provide direct leadership,
mentorship, and oversight to Medical Manager supporting the
portfolio. • Establish standards, frameworks, and expectations for
medical strategic planning, execution, and measurement . • Foster
strong strategic capability and scientific leadership across the
Medical Strategy team. Integrated Brand & Lifecycle Planning •
Partner closely with Commercial Brand Teams to align medical
strategy with brand strategy, launch readiness, and lifecycle
planning—while maintaining appropriate medical independence. •
Collaborate with Franchise Portfolio Management Team to inform
indication sequencing, portfolio prioritization, and long-range
lifecycle strategy. • Oversee medical contributions to integrated
brand plans , including pre-launch, launch, and post-launch phases.
Evidence Generation & Scientific Insight • Guide development of
evidence generation strategies , including investigator-initiated
studies (IIS), real-world evidence (RWE), and post-marketing
research. • Ensure medical strategies are informed by clinical
data, real-world insights, guidelines, and evolving standards of
care . • Leverage insights from MSLs, KOLs, advisory boards, and
congresses to continuously refine strategy. Cross-Functional &
Executive Collaboration • Serve as a senior medical strategy
partner to Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory,
Market Access, Safety, and Global Medical Operations . • Provide
medical strategic input into value, access, and reimbursement
discussions relevant to the portfolio. • Support business
development and due diligence activities through medical assessment
of potential assets. Governance & Scientific Integrity • Ensure all
medical strategies and activities adhere to global medical
governance standards, regulatory requirements, and ethical
principles . • Partner with Legal and Compliance to maintain
appropriate separation between medical and commercial activities.
ducation • Advanced degree required: MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent
medical/scientific degree. Experience • 10 years of experience in
Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or medical strategy roles
within pharmaceutical or biotech organizations. • Demonstrated
leadership of Medical Directors or senior medical strategists. •
Experience supporting therapeutic areas within oncology. • Proven
success partnering with Commercial and Portfolio Management teams
in a matrixed environment. • Experience supporting global
portfolios and multiple product lifecycles. Skills & Competencies •
Strong portfolio-level strategic thinking and scientific judgment.
• Proven people leader with experience developing senior medical
talent. • Excellent executive communication and
stakeholder-management skills. • Deep understanding of drug
development, evidence generation, and medical governance. • High
ethical standards and strong patient-centric orientation. Preferred
Qualifications • Experience in specialty pharma or complex
therapeutic portfolios. • Experience working across US and
international markets. • Prior involvement in multiple launches and
lifecycle expansions. • Experience supporting franchise- or
portfolio-based operating models. Travel • Willingness to travel
domestically and internationally up to 25–35% LI-Hybrid Pay Range
