With 388 beds it is the second largest of Duke Healths four hospitals and offers a comprehensive range ofmedical, surgical, and diagnostic services, including orthopedics, weight-loss surgery, womens services, and heart and vascular services.MRI Technologist-PRN SummaryPerform a variety of complex, specialized, and technical tasks associated with the operation of high field strength mag nets.Work PerformedScreen patients for MR safety prior to procedure performanceAssist radiologist with procedure protocol in gand performanceStart IV.s, administer contrast media as directed and per protocolEvaluate MR scans for technical quality, collate processed images and sequence of acquisition and label appropriatelySchedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functionsCharge MR procedures and supplies in and operate power injectors for contrast media administrationMaintain accurate patient recordsProvide orientation for new technologistsProvide education and training for student technologistsProvide for the psychological and physical needs of patients for MR proceduresUnderstand and use the Image Archival SystemPerform complex tasks associated with the operation of high field strength magnets and related equipment to produce special radiographic images of specific body partsPosition patients for MR scans using immobilization and protective equipment as requiredScreen patients for MR safety prior to procedure performanceAssist radiologist with procedure performanceAdminister contrast media or as directed and per protocolEvaluate MR scans for technical quality, collate processed images and sequence of exposure and label appropriatelyCoordinate scheduling and patient flow involving multiple MR sitesAssist with education and training of new physicians (interns, residents, fellows, and attendings) if applicableAssist radiologists and physicists in developing new protocols and MR imaging techniques that are unique to DUHSHelp facilitate research for the Duke Health System by scanning and using protocols givenDemonstrate proficiency in the 100 MR protocol sin the Health System.
