Job Description Job Description Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification and minimum 2 years Surgical Tech / Operating Room Tech experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Perform specialized technical duties within diverse operating room specialty service areas, ensuring adherence to established standards and optimal patient care. Utilize expertise in aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, and intraoperative support to assist in complex surgical procedures. This contract role is based in Cary, NC, offering the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic surgical team with advanced surgical services. Key Responsibilities: - Maintain, assemble, handle, and sterilize specialty surgical instrumentation following strict aseptic protocols. - Proactively identify and correct contamination or breaks in aseptic technique. - Perform and document surgical counts accurately, reporting discrepancies per policy. - Label drugs and solutions, monitor quantities used during procedures. - Assist with specimen identification, preparation, handling, and labeling. - Plan and organize instrument, supply, and surgical drape setups to maximize efficiency during surgery. - Support surgeons by demonstrating understanding of patient anatomy and surgical nuances. - Participate in case selection and instrument planning. - Modify scrubbing procedures as needed based on patient or procedural specifics and communicate adjustments to the surgical team. - Respond promptly to surgical emergencies according to hospital emergency plans. - Manage inventory, receipt, and storage of supplies under surgical leadership guidance. - Identify and report defective equipment or supplies. - Restock operating and procedure rooms and maintain sub-sterile areas. - Assist registered nurses during intraoperative nursing phases. - Operate and troubleshoot complex operating room equipment. - Serve as mentor and preceptor to Surgical Technician Trainees. Desired Qualifications: - Experience in Operating Room Technology or Surgical Technician roles. - Solid knowledge of aseptic techniques and surgical instrumentation. - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment. - Strong communication and organizational skills. - Previous experience assisting in diverse surgical specialties preferred.
