Job Description:

Principal Functions:

* SQL Server performance analysis, tuning, capacity planning/forecast, security, and design. Collaborate with DBAs, Developers, and Architects in troubleshooting database and application errors.
* Actively monitor the database environment to ensure optimal performance and to prevent production issues.
* Open and Follow-up on Service Request tickets to quickly resolve problems.
* Perform Production On-Call Supp?rt on rotational basis - including Off-Hours and Weekends.
* Provide direction on database tuning and operations.
* Collaborate with Data Architects on data modeling using tools such as E/R Studio.
* Review packages before deployment.
* Provide direction on database tuning and operations.
* Provide support for database/application deployments.
* Design, automate and document new processes to improve efficiency of database services.
* Provide training in areas of specialization to other team members.

License/Certification/Education: Normally requires a B.S. Degree in Computer Science w/5-7 years of experience.

Required Skills and Experience:

SQL OBA with 4+ years experience in a mission critical production database environment, including:

* SQL 2008+
* VLDB
* Database Security
* Backup and Recovery
* Logical and Physical Design
* Database Tuning
* Query Optimization
* Performance Tuning
* Installs, Upgrades and Patching
* High Availability Architecture
* Replication
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired Skills and Experience:

* BS in technical discipline preferred
* SQL Server certification a plus
* Experience with other database systems (Oracle, Sybase, IBM DB2) a plus Experience in Healthcare Industry preferred
* Powershell / Windows administration skills a plus
