Compost Turner Operator Huntersville, NC Hourly / Full-Time About the Role: The Compost Turner Operator plays a crucial role in the sustainable management of organic waste by ensuring the efficient operation of composting machinery. This position is responsible for turning and aerating compost piles to promote optimal decomposition and enhance the quality of the final product. The operator will monitor temperature and moisture levels, making necessary adjustments to maintain ideal conditions for microbial activity. Additionally, the role involves adhering to safety protocols and environmental regulations to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. Ultimately, the Compost Turner Operator contributes to the production of high-quality compost, supporting local agriculture and reducing landfill waste. This position is a safety-sensitive position and requires a clear mind and diligence. The employee has the responsibility for his/her own safety as well as the safety of others. Minimum Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent. - Previous experience operating heavy machinery or equipment. - Basic understanding of composting processes and organic waste management. Preferred Qualifications: - Certification in composting or waste management. - Experience in agricultural or environmental services. - Knowledge of safety regulations related to heavy machinery operation. Responsibilities: - Operate and maintain compost turning machinery to ensure efficient processing of organic materials. - Monitor and adjust compost pile conditions, including temperature, moisture, and aeration, to promote effective decomposition. - Conduct regular inspections of equipment and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety. - Document operational data and report any issues or anomalies to the supervisor in a timely manner. - Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations while performing job duties.
