Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities Provide manufacturing and quality technical support on major parts to the Parts Manufacturing group and associated sub-tiers. Assist in meeting cost goals, delivery requirements and contractual requirements for commercial programs, domestic and foreign. Aid in the establishment of manufacturing plans from design concepts. Participate in the development of programs/methods to optimize producibility, reduce cycle time, manufacturing losses & overall shop cost. Assure adherence to quality control systems/plan. Assure understanding of quality and specification requirements Review completed product final inspection sheets and special process documentation for acceptability Ensure conformance of products ordered to all drawing requirements and compliance with all required specifications, tests or required analyses Track quality performance and provide input on process improvements, controls and quality plans. Review processes (Routers, FMEA, operation standards, process control sheets and all other control documentation) to ensure design requirements have been met Track product concerns, non-conformances and product dispositions Lead supplier audits (when certified) to AS9100 and specific customer requirements Function as a liaison between suppliers and the Parts Manufacturing Group to resolve quality issues and to provide technical support Review all design quality requirements for acceptability Assure all quality requirements are included in contract flow down to suppliers Conduct and approve Root Cause and Corrective Action reporting Respond to quality issues in a timely manner Participate in the review of engineering designs to contribute quality requirements and considerations Recommend and implement changes to improve efficiency and reduce costs Qualifications Education, Experience, Knowledge & Specific Skills Bachelor degree in Engineering or applicable work experience. Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing quality role Knowledge Knowledge of engine components, manufacturing, assembly, testing and quality methods, procedures, systems and requirements. Familiarity with and the use of CAD and manufacturing software. Knowledge of production cost and measurements. An understanding of and demonstrated use of quality techniques, applications and procedures Knowledge and understanding of data collection, manipulation, analysis and communication In-depth understanding of process for inspection planning Working knowledge of engineering drawings, gauging and calibration, GD and CMM Experience in product nonconformance dispositions - MRB and product First Article review and approval is a plus Experience with programs geared toward partnerships with the supply base Experience in leading and participating in formal continuous improvement utilizing problem solving techniques, LEAN, Kaizen, process control, etc. Strong understanding of manufacturing special processes Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Standard requirements Experience with GE quality systems is a plus Job Related Specific Skills Strong aerospace quality background Ability to develop quality plans, coordinate projects, communicate changes and progress Complete projects on time and within budget Demonstrated practical ability to ensure compliance with written procedures. Proficient with Microsoft Office Strong organizational skills Ability to work independently Physical Requirements/Work Conditions Climate-controlled office environment. The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, mandatory hearing protection and safety shoes.
