In the position the Laboratory Technician will perform tests and analyses in an entry level capacity according to established testing procedures in designated technical department. Follows standard operating procedures. Performs tasks/procedures as approved in training and competency records contained in employee's training binder. During the first year of employment, Technicians are approved for reporting results only on the automated quantitative platforms. After one year of employment, Technician interprets and report results, subject to verification by Technologist/Sr. Tech/Team Leader/Supervisor. Assists with all aspects of department operations as assigned and/or when bench assignment is complete.
The work schedule for this position will be: 1st shift, Sunday-Wednesday, 6:00am-4:30pm.
Job Duties/Responsibilities: -Tests specimens completely, accurately, within established time frames and according to established procedures.- Performs quality control procedures for assigned responsibilities, ensuring completeness and accuracy.-Completely and accurately reviews, verifies, and/or signs/dates all designated documents according to department SOP and established timeframes.-Performs preventative maintenance on equipment, documents PM appropriately, makes minor repairs and immediately contacts appropriate personnel for problems requiring more complex repairs. Follows-up to ensure repairs are completed.-Restocks supplies and maintains inventory of reagents to ensure all required work can be performed without emergency orders or delayed testing.-Performs all rotations in department as required, completely and accurately, to cover staffing shortages.-Maintains clean work station in accordance with department guidelines.-Achieves 100% of productivity and accuracy/efficiency goals.-Ensures a professional work environment is maintained
