Job Description: U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking a Metallurgist
Intern. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting
and managing Quality or TPD projects. This internship can lead to a
full-time at will employment opportunity as US Pipe. Essential
Functions: Map Out Process Flow - Quality Check’s. Evaluate how
much Thinner can be used during touch up on pipe. Evaluate impact
on two separate cements coming in on process scrap. Gauge
transition into HDSS products. 5S Shadow Boards. Packaging
Inspectors. Shipping Inspectors. Visuals for “Good Quality” pipe at
pertinent locations. Calipers usage and storage in casting. Develop
“Spare Part” list & Supply of current Gauges, focus on Calipers and
handheld devices. Spare Part list for all Quality Machines ~
Chemical & Physical Lab. Machine/process Speeds at Hot Side & Cold
Side. Casting. Ovens. Ladle Movement. Test Press. Welding. RPMs at
Cement Lining. Paint (Thickness during machine set up). CL3
Process. Determine if bagging both ends does look different than
bagging one end and if two days is better than one days. Would the
bagging have an effect on the color difference with the patch
cement. Supporting other Quality or TPD projects as needed. This
could involve helping with product testing, sample preparation,
Charpy verifications, etc. Skills & Other Requirements: Educational
Status must be in a 4-year college degree program focused on
Materials Science, Engineering, or any similar field.
Self-motivated, attention to detail Strong oral and communication
skills Must be a team player Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
(PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and etc.) Ability to learn and adapt with
