expertise! Job Summary and Qualifications Prepares, calibrates and
administers radio pharmaceuticals for diagnostic examinations.
Operates nuclear imaging systems and computer applications and
assists physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Prepares Technetium Radionuclide Kits, as needed. Performs nuclear
imaging studies; obtains pertinent patient information and history.
Prepares patient for the procedure, gathering relevant information
for documentation & scanning. (orders, questionnaires, consents)
Operates diagnostic equipment safely maintaining awareness of ALARA
standards while performing procedures. Practices radiation safety
in the administration of radioisotopes to patients.(Assessment of
LMP, Shielding and Lowest exposure doses) Evaluates images for
optimal technical quality prior to sending to PACS. Is proficient
in all PACS and digital imaging applications. Reviews studies as
needed with the Radiologist to determine any need for additional
imaging. Prepares radiographic and Nuclear Medicine rooms with the
necessary equipment and supplies for the procedure. Assists
physicians with diagnostic & therapeutic procedures. Administers
contrast mediae, as required & performs eMAR functions, as
necessary. Performs quality control procedures in compliance with
state and federal regulations to maintain quality and safety
standards & in accordance with the nuclear physicist’s
recommendations. Maintains established departmental
policies/procedures, objectives, performance improvement measures,
safety, environmental and infection control standards. Receives,
administers, records and disposes of all radioactive substances in
accordance with state and federal guidelines. Performs appropriate
quality control including daily room surveys and wipe tests.
Maintains appropriate and complete documentation. Participate in
the Patient Satisfaction Survey process. Performs Time Out
procedure as necessary. Performs Medication Reconciliation, as
needed. Performs patient assessments, obtaining pertinent patient
information and history. Assists with patient transport and
transfer as needed, assuring patient comfort & safety at all times.
Provides patient and family education, as necessary. Maintains
orderly & clean work area. Checks equipment, supplies and
accessories on a regular basis. Performs clerical, reception and
scheduling duties, as necessary. Operates Meditech, hot lab
computer, and other computers, printers & copiers with proficiency.
Enters all patient, radiopharmaceutical and exam data accurately
and appropriately. Enhances professional growth and development
through participation in educational programs, current literature
and in-services to meet the continuing education requirements of
the ARRT or other professional organizations. Attends and
participates in departmental and hospital wide meetings, as
designated. Establishes and maintains a good rapport and
professional relationship with fellow employees, other departments
and the medical staff. Follows Standards of Behavior. Able to
access MSDS sheets. Performs other related duties as assigned or
required. What qualifications you will need:
Qualifications/Licensure/Certification/Registration/: Required:
Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic
Technologists (ARRT). Required: Graduation from an approved School
of Nuclear Medicine Technology is required for the lead position of
the department. Required: BLS Certified Education: Required:
Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology. Hours:
